  • We will do a physical assessment, and more specific tests to draw a diagnosis.
  • We will provide you with detailed information and advice about the problem.
  • We'll get started right away so hopefully you feel some immediate benefit from the session.

We will be honest, sometimes there's more than one underlying problem, but we will keep you informed and  be open with our decision making process. Education is the most important part of your recovery.

Acupuncture

and

Dry Needling

The insertion of a needle into the skin using a guide tube to stimulate healing

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine, adopted by the west in more recent years and now widely accepted that there is a scientific understanding and evidence base to support the practice.

Jo has an excellent understanding of anatomy and physiology and could not advocate a treatment without underpinning knowledge and supporting evidence.

Acupuncture has multiple local treatment effects through, local cellular chemistry such as inflammatory healing responses, collagen synthesis and circulatory changes stimulated by needling.

Acupuncture is combined as part of your Physio session and there are no extra charges.

Jo has achieved over 20 years of working in health and qualified to perform Acupuncture in 2005 which she has used continuously since she first began. Over the years, Jo has witnessed at first hand the effectiveness and the benefits of acupuncture. Jo is a member of the Acupuncture Association for Physiotherapists (AACP) and will screen you to check it is a suitable treatment for you.

Jo is also highly trained in western dry needling for muscular trigger points which is a very effective method to restore muscle function and calm muscular pains.
